Rangers
Park Rangers have some of the coolest jobs around. They get to work outdoors, mingle with park guests, attend to lost or injured animals, lead tours, provide information to visitors, investigate complaints and support event staff to provide fun and entertaining events in the park.
Altamonte Springs full time Park Rangers are trained professionals who attend the Ranger Academy to become proficient in park operations at the various outdoor facilities in Altamonte. All are certified in AED/CPR and first aid. Many have training in various areas including facility management, code enforcement, park maintenance, interpretative programs, incident report writing and many other areas.
Some Park Rangers collect environmental data on wildlife and plant populations. Others focus on teaching the public about how to enjoy and protect nature. More specifically, how things like pollution, litter and climate change affect the parks and lakes. Many of our Rangers teach in the Altamonte Springs Science Incubator program through the City’s partnership with Seminole County Public Schools, working with middle and high school students.
Other Park Ranger duties may include readying ball fields for play, collecting usage fees and grounds maintenance. Our Park Rangers do it all! But the main duty of the Altamonte Park Ranger is the safety and security of our park patrons. The Rangers provide security at both of the City’s nature parks and at all three ball park facilities. So you can rest assured that a Park Ranger will be somewhere close during your next visit to a City park, making sure the facility is safe and secure.
