Solid Waste & Recycling
The City of Altamonte Springs provides collection of refuse (household garbage) twice a week, yard waste each Wednesday and recycling once each week.
Solid waste pick-up is provided Monday through Friday, two times a week:
- Residences on the east side of I-4 - Tuesday and Friday
- Residences on the west side of I-4 - Monday and Thursday

Container Guidelines
Containers must be placed curbside (do not obstruct drainage or walkways) after 5 p.m. the day before trash pick up and before 7 a.m. on collection day. Residents must remove containers no later than 7 p.m. on collection day.
Any standard garbage container (plastic or metal) 32 gallons or smaller can be used. Maximum weight must not exceed 40 pounds. Plastic bags or cardboard boxes may be used if they are:
- Secure to prevent spillage or breakage when lifted, and
- Kept dry in rainy weather and do not exceed 40 pounds
What is Collected
Normal household garbage generated from your residential property only. Animal waste, ashes, sawdust and similar materials are collected only if securely bagged.
Note: To avoid worker injury, hot coals must be completely cooled before placing curbside. Broken glass and other sharp objects should be placed in cans.
What is Not Collected
Materials from commercial activities. Dirt, sod, rocks, mattresses, furniture, large appliances, major household renovation materials, construction debris, live ammunition, electronics (televisions, etc.) and household hazardous waste including, but not limited to: paint, fluorescent bulbs, tires, flammables, acids, pesticides, motor oil, pool chemicals and their containers. Medical waste, such as needles cannot be accepted. Contact your nearest fire station or call Seminole County at (407) 665-2260 for disposal of hazardous items.
Special Pick-Ups
Residents who cannot or do not wish to wait for spring clean-up for large item pickups can call (407) 571-8607 or email to request an estimate for a special pick-up (minimum charge is $70). Once payment is made, we will schedule the pick-up. Items must be placed curbside (between the curb and sidewalk).
