Summer Reading Program

Sea Turtle

The City Library is full of possibilities and this summer, we have an ocean of them! Learn about the world's oceans, their inhabitants and how we can protect them during the "Oceans of Possibilities" summer reading program. Weekly sessions will cover topics such as hurricanes, endangered animals, mapping the ocean floor and so much more. Young patrons will engage in hands-on activities, crafts and fun. Registration is required.

Note: The "Ocean's of Possibilities" Summer Reading Program is not intended for patrons younger than 6 years old.

Activity Schedule

  • Week 1 – June 22 | Hear about hurricanes and how the ocean is affected by weather.
  • Week 2 – June 29 | Learn about water conservation efforts and how the City of Altamonte Springs transforms wastewater into fresh, drinkable water.
  • Week 3 – July 13 | Discuss the importance of keeping waterways safe from trash and debris that are harmful to animals.
  • Week 4 – July 20 | Explore the ocean floor and learn about scientists that use hydrographic surveys to create maps.
  • Week 5 – July 27 | Dive into the deep sea and learn about the creatures that live there.
  • Week 6 – August 3 | Get to know more about some of your favorite ocean animals, including dolphins, manatees and sea turtles.
